Hymas Out as Cub Foods Chief

Eric Hymas is stepping down as president of Supervalu Inc.’s Cub Foods supermarket chain.

Hymas led Cub since January 2016 after spending three years at the reins of Supervalu’s Shop ‘n Save chain, and had served as the company’s SVP of merchandising.

With the search for Hymas’ successor under way, Chad Ferguson, Supervalu's VP of marketing and consumer insights, will take over as Cub’s interim president, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported.

Ferguson is no stranger to interim posts - since joining Supervalu in 2013 after two decades at The Kroger Co., he temporarily held the top spots at Shop ‘n Save as well as Supervalu’s Farm Fresh chain, the Star Tribune noted.

"Chad is a dynamic leader with a wealth of experience and I'm very pleased he will be stepping in to lead Cub," Anne Dament, SVP of retail, merchandising, and marketing at Supervalu, said in a statement. "We appreciate Eric's many contributions to Cub and Supervalu over the years and wish him all the best in his future endeavors."

Dament joined Supervalu in January after a year and a half leading grocery operations at Target.
