Karns Set To Open In Carlisle

After five months of renovations, Karns Quality Foods is opening its eighth location this week in Carlisle, Pa. The new supermarket adds more than 160 jobs to the Central Pennsylvania community.

“Karns has worked hard to ensure that the area's needs will be met with this location,” said Scott Karns, president and CEO of the Mechanicsburg, Pa.-based regional grocer, including “our signature full-service meat department, fresh produce, scratch bakery, local products and an extensive grocery department.”

Grand-opening events include a burger cookout on Saturday, May 25, from 11-1 p.m. to benefit the North Middletown Township Volunteer Fire Company. Karns will offer burgers, drinks and chips for $1 with all sales going directly to the fire company. Additionally, there will be a food drive on June 1 from 10-2 p.m. to benefit Project SHARE.

Founded in 1959 by David Karns, the family-owned Karns operates stores in Boiling Springs, Mechanicsburg (Hampden Square Center), New Bloomfield, Lemoyne, Hershey, Middletown and Linglestown (Paxton Square Center).
