Rafeal Cuellar Wins Achievement Award from NJ Food Council

Rafeal Cuellar, president/CEO of Cuellar Family ShopRites of Passaic/Clifton, will receive an Industry Achievement Award from the New Jersey Food Council during the annual Night of Distinction Reception on March 16.

Cuellar purchased a ShopRite store that had previously been corporately-owned and integrated a management team that has successfully turned the store around. Previously, Cuellar was president/CEO of ECO & Sons and responsible for its subsidiaries – President Supermarket and Presidential Caterers.

He was born in Spain to Cuban parents before the family immigrated to New Jersey and opened a bodega. The family’s business remains rooted in the food industry. Cuellar sits on the board of directors of the New Jersey Food Council, among other organizations.

The New Jersey Food Council’s Night of Distinction also will honor Dan Croce, president of ACME Markets and his executive team; Barry Schiro, president of CBA Industries; and Linda Doherty, president/CEO of the New Jersey Food Council.

The New Jersey Food Council has nearly 400 members representing 1,200 retail food stores, wholesalers, manufacturing and service companies in the state.
