Holiday Foods Bought by Winkler Inc.

Holiday Foods, with six locations in Indiana (a seventh store was destroyed by a fire in November), was recently sold to Winkler Inc., a grocery wholesaler that also owns five Wesselman’s Supermarkets located in Evansville and Mt. Vernon, Ind.

Holiday Foods was founded in 1969 by Lloyd and Ruby Winkler, who also were co-owners of J. Winkler & Sons, the predecessor to Winkler Inc. The Winklers’ son, Russ, and his wife Linda opened the first Holiday Foods in Santa Claus, Ind., in 1970. They are now selling the business to their nephews, Josh and John Winkler of Winkler Inc., based in Dale, Ind.

“I am encouraged that Winkler Inc. has chosen to purchase Holiday Foods and through its present leadership, Josh and John Winkler will continue the Holiday Foods footprint that my family and I have strived to establish over the past 45 years,” Russ Winkler, president of Holiday Foods, said in a press release.
