Do’s and Don’ts for Grocerant Success

Progressive Grocer’s 2016 Grocerant Summit’s goal is to inspire and delight retailer attendees who want to “Build the Grocerant Experience.” The invitation-only event will take place October 25-26, 2016, at the Schaumburg Convention Center in suburban Chicago.

“If we want to instill in our retailer attendees the critical elements of success, it’s our responsibility to demonstrate to them what success really looks like – physically, emotionally, and tastefully,” says Jeff Friedman, SVP/Group Brand Director at Stagnito + Edgell, parent of Progressive Grocer.

The entire agenda is dedicated to delivering against the needs of retailers looking to improve their fresh prepared foods programs. A board of advisors comprised of retailers and solution providers made invaluable content recommendations, so 2016 Grocerant Solutions will surely deliver.

Highlights of the two-day program include Will Rosenzweig, Dean and Executive Director of The Food Business School of The Culinary Institute of America, speaking on business of grocerants; Chefs Charlie Baggs and Steven Petusevsky, who will address the importance of menuing and how it should support the retail banner’s mission; and a panel of retail dietitians, who will demonstrate that retailers can take advantage of resources across the store to serve up better options for shoppers.

As a special feature of the event, a dramatic closing session will bring grocerant “Do’s and Don’ts” to life, allowing retailer attendees to interact and learn from an on-floor representation of stellar and less-then-best grocerant practices.

“Grocerants offer retailers a dynamic solution for getting channel agnostic shoppers in the door,” notes Friedman. “Competition for the food dollar has never been tougher, and we want retailers to understand the nuances of this business, and learn how create a total experience, from design to menu to messaging, that will give them a competitive advantage.”
