Kroger Inks Union Pact in Atlanta

Associates working at stores in The Kroger Co’s Atlanta Division have ratified new labor agreements with their union local.

"We are pleased to reach agreements that are good for our associates. These agreements provide good wage increases, affordable health care and stable pension funds to support our associates' retirement," said Bruce Lucia, president of Kroger's Atlanta Division.

The contracts cover more than 28,000 Kroger associates represented by the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1996, working in 164 stores in the Atlanta area and 11 stores in Savannah.

"These agreements come after thoughtful and productive work by both the company and union bargaining committees,” Lucia said. “I want to thank our associates for supporting these agreements and for the excellent service they provide to our customers every day."

Cincinnati-based Kroger employs 443,000 at nearly 2,800 stores in 35 states and Washington, D.C.
