NJFC Introduces Loss Prevention Scholarships

The New Jersey Food Council (NJFC) has launched the Loss Prevention Scholarship Program for loss prevention professionals of the organization’s member companies. The new program offers loss prevention solution vendors the ability to fund continuing education for NJFC loss prevention associates.

The scholarships are sponsored by Security Resources Inc., Cambridge Security Services, Eastern Security Corp., Agilence Inc. and the Corrective Education Co. “Their commitment exhibits great dedication to furthering the practice of loss prevention and provides a valuable benefit to our members,” noted Linda Doherty, president of the Trenton-based NJFC.

According to Doherty, there are five scholarships available in the program’s inaugural year: Security Resources is sponsoring two LPQualified (LPQ) scholarships, and Cambridge Security Services, Eastern Security, Agilence and the Corrective Education Co. are offering additional LPQ scholarships. The scholarships will fund the college-accredited LPQ certification course administered through the Loss Prevention Foundation.

“The [NJFC] is the first state council in the United States to incorporate this type of loss prevention scholarship program,” said Gene Smith, president of The Loss Prevention Foundation, in Matthews, N.C.

“The LPQ course will allow our members to provide industry leading training to loss prevention associates and lend to the overall benefit and advancement of loss prevention in the New Jersay food industry,” added Doherty.

The NJFC represents almost 400 members serving the retail, wholesale and manufacturing segments of the state’s food distribution industry.
