PBH Names Retail Role Models, Champs and Supermarket Dietitians of the Year

The Produce for Better Health Foundation (PBH) has named its 2016 Retail Role Models and Champions, which are as follows:

“Whether using the logo on marketing materials, packaging, or linking to our websites, the 2016 Retail Role Models and Champions continue to be strong advocates of the Fruits & Veggies—More Matters brand and national health campaign, as well as the mission of PBH,” said Elizabeth Pivonka, CEO of Hockessin, Del.-based PBH. “I’m pleased with these retailers’ efforts to increase fruit and vegetable education, awareness and consumption which strengthens our collective work toward a healthier America.”

The Retail Role Models and Champions will be formally acknowledged at an April 7 awards luncheon held during PBH’s Annual Conference: The Consumer Connection, in Scottsdale, Ariz., taking place April 4-7.

The foundation has also revealed its Supermarket Dietitians of the Year award, which recognizes the top supermarket registered dietitians and/or health-and-wellness staffers for their support of the Fruits & Veggies—More Matters program and of the shared goal of boosting the sale and consumption of fruit and vegetables.

“It is a true honor to receive this award from the Produce for Better Health Foundation,” said McLaughlin, who in 2014 joined Mahwah, N.J.-based Inserra, which owns and operates 22 ShopRite stores in New York and New Jersey. “I am thankful for the opportunity to work with such a talented group of professionals at Inserra, who are as dedicated to improving the health of others as I am.”

“I am honored to be named as a Produce for Better Health (PBH) 2016 Supermarket Dietitian of the Year,” noted Hembree, who in addition to her work with Cincinnati-based Kroger is a Progressive Grocer contributor. “The efforts of PBH in increasing consumer fruit and vegetable consumption and moving the dial towards plant-based nutrition are unparalleled. It is my pleasure to consistently spread the good news about fruits and vegetables to my retailer and our customers and associates towards a healthier future.”
