Target Names Amazon Vet to Supply Chain Role

Target Corp. has named Arthur Valdez as its EVP, chief supply chain and logistics officer, effective March 28.

Having spent 16 years in leadership roles with Amazon, Valdez will lead the Minneapolis-based retailer's supply chain transformation, including planning, distribution and transportation.

“While we’ve made significant progress in improving our operations, Target’s growth hinges on our ability to enhance the fundamental aspects of our business, starting with the supply chain,” said EVP and COO John Mulligan, to whom Valdez will report.

“Arthur’s leadership and experience will be a tremendous asset as we continue to drive improvements in end-to-end processes including leveraging our almost 1,800 stores to deliver a seamless experience for our guests," Mulligan added.

Prior to his appointment at Target, Valdez was Amazon's VP of operations focused on the company’s international supply chain expansion. He also held leadership positions across the company’s global and domestic supply chain, including transportation, fulfilment and logistics. Prior to Amazon, Valdez served with Walmart and Kmart.

Target Corp. operates 1,792 stores along with Target.com.
