Target Ups Hourly Minimum Wage to $10

Target is raising its minimum wage to $10 per hour in tandem with similar moves by other national retailers, including Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Costco.

Target's $10 hourly wage hike will begin in May, according to numerous media reports.

The Minneapolis-based retailer raised its minimum wage to $9 per hour in April 2015.

“Our team is a huge part of what makes Target, Target,” company spokeswoman Molly Snyder said in a statement. “We pay market competitive rates and regularly benchmark the marketplace to ensure that our compensation and benefits packages will help us to both recruit and retain great talent. However, we typically don’t disclose the details of our compensation programs.”

Target employs some 341,000 at nearly 1,800 stores nationwide.
