TargetExpress Expands to San Francisco

Target Corp. is bringing two smaller-format TargetExpress stores to Berkeley, Calif., and the financial district of San Francisco in March 2015, according to a Bay Area BizTalk report.

The 18,000-square-foot San Francisco store will be located at the southwest corner of Bush and Sansome Streets next to the Montgomery BART Station. It will feature a Starbucks and a large grab-and-go food area that includes sandwiches, salads, breakfast items and mid-day snacks to serve the needs of commuters and nearby office workers. It will also offer select items from Target's "Made to Matter" collection, featuring products from Bay Area-based companies such as Annie's, Yes To and Method.

The smaller Berkeley store will occupy 12,000 square feet at the downtown corner of Shattuck Avenue and Allston Way and offer a large selection of grocery products including produce, dairy, frozen, snacks and beverages aimed at students, commuters and local residents.

Both new TargetExpress stores will offer items from the home, beauty and electronics departments, including selections from Target's owned brands, as well as a pharmacy and pick-up-in-store service.

The first TargetExpress store opened in its headquarters hometown Minneapolis in July. Two more locations in St. Paul, Minn., and elsewhere in San Francisco are planned for 2015.
