thinkThin Partners with Whole Foods’ Non-GMO Project

In conjunction with Whole Foods’ initiative to require mandatory GMO labeling on all products by 2018, the Ventura, Calif.-based thinkThin brand has revealed its Crunch line is now using 100 percent non-GMO ingredients.

The brand has pledged full support of Whole Food’s commitment to GMO transparency, showcasing that with the right guidance and effective partnerships, certification is achievable.

“Becoming non-GMO is our social responsibility and the natural food industry is the leader in this,” said Lizanne Falsetto, CEO and founder of thinkThin. “The next hurdle for the industry is to tackle other challenging ingredients in this tough nutrition bar category. It’s powerful that Whole Foods Market is linking the collective effort Non-GMO requires from not just manufacturers and distributors but with the farmers. thinkThin will continue to play our part.”

At last month’s Natural Products Expo West, the nation’s largest natural food show, Whole Foods’ senior global grocery coordinator Errol Schweizer sat down with Falsetto and thinkThin ambassador and CEO of intent.com, Mallika Chopra, to discuss the cause.

“With everything we do with our suppliers it’s all about the win/win partnership,” said Schweizer. “It’s never easy because it means you have to negotiate and develop trust and work to achieve goals together. But if we all get on the same path to achieving the goal of non-GMO—knowing where our food comes from, what it’s made from, how it’s made and who it’s made by—we can make great strides.”

thinkThin Crunch is currently available in eight flavors including Blueberry & Mixed Nuts, Cherry & Mixed Nuts, Cranberry Apple & Mixed Nuts, Caramel Chocolate Dipped Mixed Nuts, Chocolate Dipped Mixed Nuts, Mixed Nuts, White Chocolate Dipped Mixed Nuts and Coconut Chocolate Dipped Mixed Nuts.
