Walmart Pay Now Available in Ala., Ga., La., Miss.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has rolled out its Walmart Pay service, which enables customers to pay using their smartphones, at its more than 120 Alabama, 180-plus Georgia, upwards of 115 Louisiana and over 70 Mississippi Walmart stores.

Last month, the service debuted in Texas and Arkansas, following a December 2015 introduction.

With the launch, Walmart has become the only retailer to offer its own payment solution that works with any iOS or Android device, at any checkout lane, and with any major credit, debit, pre-paid or Walmart gift card – all using the mega-retailer’s mobile app.

Actively used by more than 20 million customers each month, the app enables users to check in to pick up an online order at a Walmart store, refill pharmacy prescriptions and find an item’s store location, among other features.

“We can’t wait to hear what our customers and associates in [these states] think of Walmart Pay,” said Daniel Eckert, SVP, services, Walmart U.S. “The service was built to make shopping easier and faster, something we know our customers want. Walmart Pay is a powerful addition to our app, a tool that we’re using to transform the shopping experience by seamlessly connecting our online assets and our stores for customers. The service opens the door to new and better ways we can serve the 140 million customers who shop our stores each week.”

Walmart operates 11,535 stores under 72 banners in 28 countries, and e-commerce websites in 11 countries, employing more than 2 million associates worldwide.
