‘ShopRite Chefs On Call’ Once More

ShopRite’s Culinary Workshop chefs are again providing expert advice to home cooks this Turkey Day. The “ShopRite Chefs on Call” service began in 2008 as a culinary resource for customers seeking help, recipes and home-cooking tips.

Through Thanksgiving Day, a team of top ShopRite Culinary Workshop chef instructors will offer answers over the phone to customers’ meal prep dilemmas. Participating chefs from stores in New York and New Jersey will be staffing the phones. They include Peter Day, Bound Brook, N.J.; Harold Glassman, Staten Island, N.Y.; Melissa Greeley, Garwood, N.J.; Steve Kovarcik, East Brunswick, Aberdeen and Woodbridge, N.J.; and Portia Lashley, Clark, N.J.

“ShopRite’s Chefs on Call provides ShopRite customers with direct, easy access to someone with professional culinary training and experience who can guide them through their holiday food preparation,” said ShopRite Corporate Executive Chef Lynn Logg. “Our chefs are knowledgeable, friendly and approachable. They easily connect with our customers each week in our Culinary Workshops. It’s this personal connection that makes ShopRite everyone’s ‘neighborhood grocery store.’”

To talk live with a ShopRite Culinary Workshop Chef Instructor, customers can call the grocer's Customer Care Center at 1-800-ShopRite (746-7748) and request the “Chef on Call.”

Callers who provide e-mail addresses will receive some of the chefs’ favorite ShopRite Culinary Workshop holiday recipes, along with a selection of holiday dessert recipes for people with diabetes. Customers can also visit ShopRite’s Facebook page for special Thanksgiving turkey tips. Additionally, information on buying, storing, thawing and roasting turkeys is available at www.shoprite.com/cnt/TimelyTopics.html.

Created more than 10 years ago, ShopRite’s Culinary Workshop offers hands-on cooking classes taught by local professional chefs in 45 stores. For a $20 fee, participants attend a two-hour class and take part in the preparation of an entire meal. After the meal is prepared, attendees enjoy it in the company of the chef.

ShopRite is the registered trademark of Wakefern Food Corp., a Keasbey, N.J.-based retailer-owned cooperative. With more than 230 ShopRite supermarkets in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Delaware and Maryland, ShopRite serves more than 5 million customers weekly.
