Associated Grocers Prepares for Exec Transition

Emile R. Breaux will succeed J.H. “Jay” Campbell, Jr. as president and CEO of Baton Rouge, La.-based Associated Grocers, upon Campbell’s retirement in the next few years. During the transitional period, Breaux will serve as EVP and COO.

Associated Grocers’ board of directors said the advanced notice of the executive transition would provide for a more orderly and efficient process.

Campbell (left) has been president of the company since Feb. 1, 1995, and with the company since January of 1972. Breaux (right) has been with the company since June of 1994, and has served in a variety of capacities, including information services, procurement, sales, marketing, and most recently as EVP/retail operations.

Breaux is a native of New Orleans, and holds a bachelor’s degree from Southeastern Louisiana University and an MBA from the University of New Orleans.

The retailer-owned Associated Grocers services independent retail grocers in Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.
