Bi-Lo/Winn-Dixie Aim to ‘Make a Difference’

Bi-Lo and Winn-Dixie have launched Holiday Hunger Relief Programs in which customers of each banner can help provide meals to needy families by donating at any store register through Dec. 24.

Each dollar donated will go directly to local Feeding America food banks in the communities that Bi-Lo and Winn-Dixie serve.

“We want the holidays to be a time of joy and thankfulness for everyone we serve in our communities,” said Mary Kellmanson, SVP of marketing for Bi-Lo and Winn-Dixie. “Our partnership with Feeding America offers a meaningful way for the community to come together and support our neighbors.”

Bi-Lo and Winn-Dixie customers donated more than $235,000 and $120,000, respectively, during their Summer Hunger Relief Backpack Programs, which helped fill backpacks with fresh, healthy foods for children in need.

Jacksonville, Fla.-based Bi-Lo Holdings, parent company of Bi-Lo and Winn-Dixie, is the ninth-largest conventional supermarket chain in the United States, employing nearly 60,000 associates who serve customers in 686 grocery stores and 482 in-store pharmacies throughout eight southeastern states.
