Big Y Names 75th Anniversary Sweepstakes Winners

As part of its 75th Anniversary celebration, Big Y selected four winners from over 800 sweepstakes finalists – one who took home a $75,000 grand prize -- during a recent event at the Big E in West Springfield on Chicopee Day, September 27. Big Y was founded 75 years ago in the “Y” section of Chicopee, Mass., where two roads converge to form a “Y.”

“We are fortunate to have so many customers share our enthusiasm for our history as well as our local roots,” said Big Y chairman and CEO Donald D’Amour. “Our anniversary celebration was just one more way for us to thank them for their loyalty over the years.”

Customers had a chance to win $75,000 and other prizes. For 16 weeks, between May 5 and August 24, Big Y Express Savings Club and Silver Savings Club cardholders could play the Instant Rewards game at the register. If they received three Legacy Medallions on screen, they qualified as a finalist and were given a package containing a $75 Big Y Gift Card, two tickets to attend the grand prize event at the Big E and a commemorative medallion.

CBS 3 TV from Springfield held a live broadcast of the drawing with Natalie Tolomeo as well as Big Y’s D’Amour. The winners were as follows:

• $7,500.00 – James Therrien, Greenfield, MA
