B&R Retiring ALPS, Launching Save Best Concept

B&R Stores Inc. plans to open a new Save Best Foods concept in Lincoln, Neb., at the site of its current Always Low Price Store (ALPS), which is slated to close Sept. 19.

After ALPS closes, the building will be remodeled with new shelving, signage, paint and décor to offer more convenient shopping and add a lighter, brighter character to the store, the company announced in a press release. The store is schedule to reopen under the new Save Best Foods name on Sept. 29.

B&R President Pat Raybould said the decision to retire the ALPS concept and launch a new concept under the Save Best Foods moniker is rooted in customer focus. “We’re proud to serve Lincoln with stores that cater to the specific needs of customers in the neighborhoods they serve,” Raybould said. “That means the new Save Best Foods store will feature more values every day. Customers will be able to save up to 40 percent compared to national brands, and when brands like Best Choice and Always Save are available, the quality is excellent, too.”

Raybould said Save Best Foods customers will find a wider variety of products from which to choose, allowing one-stop shopping. Save Best also will stock a larger selection of value- and sale-priced items throughout the store.

Founded in 1962, Lincoln, Neb.-based B&R Stores Inc. includes four store concepts (Russ’s Market, Super Saver, Save Best Foods and Grand Central Apple Market) in seven cities across Nebraska and Iowa. For more information, visit BRstores.com.
