Brookshire Brothers to Acquire David’s Supermarkets

Lufkin, Texas-based Brookshire Brothers will acquire David’s Supermarkets, a 25-store chain headquartered in Grandview, Texas that is owned by the Waldrip family. The deal will expand the Brookshire Brothers' footprint into north and central Texas.

“We feel like these family-owned stores align with our core value that we are a celebration of family and community,” said Jerry Johnson, Brookshire Brothers' president/CEO. “As a 100 percent employee-owned company, this transaction also presents opportunities for the employees of David’s.”

During the due diligence phase, Brookshire Brothers will work closely with the Waldrips to ensure a seamless transaction, terms of which were not disclosed.

Brookshire Brothers operates 123 retail outlets, including grocery stores, convenience stores, free-standing pharmacy, tobacco and petro locations, with two new stores planned for 2014. Its store in Nacogdoches, Texas, was featured as Progressive Grocer's Store of the Month in March 2013.
