Brookshire's Text Contest to Award $165K to Schools

Brookshire Grocery Co. will donate more than $165,000 to high schools in Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas during the upcoming football season as part of its ExtraPoint Program, which gives each school a chance to score more than $10,000 in prizes.

From August 31 through November 1, more than 100 Brookshire’s stores will donate $1,000 to a local high school during a home football game. Schools can also compete for prizes up to $10,000 through the program’s keyword text contest. Each school will be designated a specific keyword, which will be advertised on signage in Brookshire’s stores and on the sidelines at football games. Customers can text the keyword once a day to enter their school for a chance to win.

Schools and stores are separated into three divisions – Red, White and Blue – to ensure schools have better odds of winning by only competing with those similar in size. At the end of the program, the school that receives the most text entries in each division will win a $10,000 grand prize. There will also be a $5,000 runner-up prize for each division.

Tyler, Texas-Brookshire Grocery Co. operates 152 stores, three distribution centers and six manufacturing facilities.
