Coborn’s Adds 3 to Leadership Team

In preparation for the grocer’s continued growth, Coborn’s Inc. has hired three top executives to its strategic leadership team, including Tom Velin as chief financial officer; Dale Monson as VP of IT; and Greg Sandeno as executive VP. Velin and Monson will assume their new roles on March 3; Sandeno on March 10.

As CFO, Velin (left) will direct and oversee all aspects of the company’s financial operations. He brings more than 28 years of senior financial experience to Coborn’s, most recently as CFO and senior VP at Experian Health Care in Minneapolis, and as CFO and senior executive at SPS Commerce in Minneapolis, Advance Duplication Services in Plymouth and August Technology Corporation in Bloomington.

Monson (right), who will helm the company’s technology operations as VP of IT, brings more than 25 years of technology and 17 years of e-commerce marketing, technology and enterprise-level application development experience. Monson’s most recent roles include senior VP and chief information officer at Oriental Trading, Inc. in Omaha, Neb., and VP and chief information officer at The Sportsman’s Guide, Inc. in St. Paul, Minn.

As executive VP, Sandeno (left) will oversee the grocer’s supermarket sales, merchandising and marketing operations. With nearly 30 years of grocery management experience, Sandeno most recently served as CEO of C&K Markets Inc. in Brookings Ore., and has had strategic leadership roles with Nash Finch Co. and the Fred Meyer division of Kroger.

St. Cloud, Minn.-based Coborn’s, Inc. is an employee-owned grocery retailer with 48 stores across Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin under the Coborn’s, Cash Wise Foods and Save-A-Lot banners.
