D’Agostino Deploying Digital Coupon System

Regional independent grocer D’Agostino has deployed a digital coupon system that manages the full digital coupon and promotion life cycle, from design to distribution, and from processing to redemption for retailers and manufacturers.

The grocer is using Savvy Penny in its store in the West Village of Manhattan, and plans to add the system to 13 additional stores shortly. “Our partnership with Savvy Penny allows us to stay in lockstep with the technology that our shoppers are using,” said Nicholas D´Agostino III. “In the end, we want to deliver savings in a way that makes sense and the process couldn’t be easier.”

The system utilizes Bluetooth to deliver in-store promotions to the consumer directly at point-of-sale. Retailers and manufacturers have the ability to limit coupons, cap savings for a particular brand, or they can rapidly create new or alter existing savings that they are offering with the Savvy Penny system. It allows retailers to validate coupons on the spot, eliminating fraud, according to Savvy Penny.

To use Savvy Penny, shoppers simply register at the Savvy Penny kiosk by entering their mobile phone number to create their account. Once registered, they then select offers from preferred brands using the touch screens located directly on shelves in the supermarket aisles. Savings are instantaneously delivered to registered users upon checkout through the Bluetooth technology. Shoppers can look forward to coupon savings of up to $50 which may be redeemed at check-out and their savings are reflected on the printed receipt as they are with paper coupons.
