Food Lion Enhances Payment Tech

Food Lion has rolled out mobile payments, including those via Apple Pay, Android Pay and Samsung Pay, as well as chip-and-pin readers, at all of its nearly 1,100 stores.

“We’re excited to introduce mobile payment options for our customers at local Food Lion stores,” said Greg Finchum, SVP, retail operations. “Customers asked us to make grocery shopping easier and more convenient, and this new payment process is another way we are helping our customers speed through the checkout line.”

Food Lion continues to integrate mobile and digital technology for customers, from a pilot for at-home grocery delivery with the launch of Instacart in Charlotte and Raleigh, N.C.; to its digital MVP Coupon Hub, where customers may access load-to-card coupons; to its online savings center housed on its website, which offers a customized grocery shopping experience from the moment customers log in.

Founded in 1957, Salisbury, N.C.-based Food Lion serves 10 million customers each week at nearly 1,100 locations in 10 states.
