Fresh & Easy to Discuss Energy Management as FMI’s Energy & Store Dev. Conference

Steve Hagen, dir. of procurement for Tesco-owned Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market and Dr. Abtar Singh, VP of business development for Minneapolis-based Verisae will discuss the business benefits of case controllers at the upcoming FMI Energy & Store Development Conference in Minneapolis.

During the presentation, titled “The Case for Case Controllers – Yet Again,” which will be held Monday, September 20 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. CDT, Singh and Hagen will describe how case controllers can lower energy costs, improve operations, and are instrumental for a store’s competitive advantage, while highlighting key aspects of the successful implementation at Fresh & Easy.

“The benefits of a case control system are truly significant as they enable grocery stores to gain a competitive edge,” said Singh. “At Verisae, we’ve worked with countless grocery store owners who’ve seen significant return on their investment in relatively short time.”

Singh will co-present on a panel with Hagen and Tom Hutchison, CEO of Enreps, LLC of Phoenix.

As part of the presentation, Hagen will discuss how Fresh & Easy successfully implemented case-control technology, and how among the retailer’s sustainability goals is to build one of the most energy efficient prototype stores in the country.

Verisae’s energy management system was developed to enable users like Fresh & Easy to use case controls to read how individual coolers are operating. Information is routinely monitored and cases can be controlled and adjusted on a real-time basis. Fresh & Easy uses Verisae’s sustainability software platform to manage maintenance, energy, and carbon emissions data for all of their stores.

The FMI Energy Conference provides ideas and solutions to help retailers design, develop, and maintain stores that are more energy efficient, effective, and meet changing consumer needs and desires.

El Segundo, Calif.-based Fresh & Easy operates 165 stores in California, Arizona and Nevada.
