FreshDirect Comes to N.Y.’s Nassau County

Online grocer FreshDirect is now serving household’s in Nassau County on New York’s Long Island, from the town of Great Neck to the Suffolk County border. Families in the area can shop online from their home or office computers, as well as on the go via iPhone or Android.

With more than 70 unique freshly made “4 Minute Meals” 12 Kids Meals, pastries, desserts, and artisanal and parbaked breads, Long Island City, N.Y.-based FreshDirect aims to leverage its proprietary advantage of made-to-order foods and direct distribution (versus picking from existing on-shelf stock) to capture a 90 percent market share in these locations similar to its dominant share advantage in Manhattan.

“We think suburban moms will see a perfect storm of benefits from FreshDirect with nutrition, convenience, and value for time and money spent,” asserted FreshDirect Corporate Nutritionist Maggie Moon.

Additional features that FreshDirect is touting as advantages for busy suburban families include seasonal produce sourced from more than 60 local farms, instinctive tools like Quick Shop that enable customers to duplicate a previous order, an online grocery cart that keeps a running tally to help shoppers stay within their budgets, and early-morning to late-night delivery time slots.
