Giant/Martin’s Launches Fundraising Campaign

Through July 6, Giant Food Stores and Martin’s Food Markets are inviting customers to support children treated at Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals. Funds from every Miracle Balloon donation at checkout will go directly to local pediatric care, programs and needed services.

Since 1997, the Ahold-owned banners have helped raise more than $30 million for eight CMN Hospitals through checkout donations and other community events in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.

“As folks finalize grocery purchases for their summer barbecue or July 4th holiday, we hope they’ll remember that their Children’s Miracle Network Hospital benefits greatly from local support -- and it often starts with $1,” said John Lauck, president and CEO at CMN Hospitals, adding that “Giant and Martin’s network of encouraging employees and charitable-minded customers [has] made a tremendous impact on children’s health over the past 17 years.”

CMN Hospitals raises funds for 170 top and nonprofit children’s hospitals across the United States and Canada. Since 1983, the network has raised more than $4.7 billion.

Celebrating its 90th anniversary this year, Carlisle, Pa.-based Giant/Martin’s operates nearly 200 grocery stores under the Giant Food Stores and Martin’s Food Markets banners, employing more than 31,000 associates.
