H-E-B Grocery Delivery Expands

Delivery service for Texas grocer H-E-B is expanding in two markets and entering three new ones, thanks to the retailer’s longtime partnership with delivery service provider Shipt.

On Aug. 8, the Birmingham, Ala.-based service will offer home delivery from H-E-B stores in Killeen, Temple and College Station, Texas. Two days later, the grocer will bring additional coverage to the San Antonio and Austin metro areas, adding more than 185,000 households to its coverage areas across those two cities.

Residents will be able to select their grocery items, note preferences, choose a one-hour delivery window and pay for orders through the Shipt mobile app. Membership costs $99 annually ($49 for residents in the new regions prior to launch day). All members have access to unlimited delivery, free on all orders over $35.

"Our longstanding partnership with Shipt continues to give us new opportunities to reach our loyal customers and enable H-E-B groceries to be delivered directly to their homes," said Paul Tepfenhart, group VP of omnichannel retail for H-E-B. "The expansion with Shipt allows us to provide more H-E-B customers with access to grocery delivery service."

H-E-B’s partnership with Shipt launched in May 2016. With the upcoming expansions, Shipt will be delivering groceries from H-E-B’s stores to more than 4.6 million households in the Lone Star State.

San Antonio-based H-E-B operates more than 380 stores in Texas and Mexico, and employs 100,000-plus associates in both regions.
