Hannaford Launches Revamped Site

Delhaize America division Hannaford Supermarkets has debuted a new website built and designed by Fry Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of MICROS Systems Inc. and an e-commerce solutions provider.

Customers can now use www.hannaford.com to send shopping lists to mobile devices, create profiles to warn them about allergens in products, print store and manufacturer coupons, and order cakes and deli platters to be picked up in-store. Users can also conveniently add products and ingredients from the weekly sales flyer and recipe sections directly to their shopping lists.

“It was our goal to enhance and simplify the user experience on our website, and to allow customers to have a richer and more personalized shopping experience,” explained Mark Bradeen, manager of promotions and online loyalty marketing for Scarborough, Maine-based Hannaford, which operates 176 stores and employs more than 27,000 associates in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont. “The new site is both a shopping destination and an innovative extension of our stores.”

Ann Arbor, Mich.-based Fry built the site on its Open Commerce Platform (OCP), a solution that gives retailers with the tools to grow their online business. The redesigned site also aims to capture the brand and provide a superior user experience.

“Hannaford recognized the need to engage its customers and provide the necessary tools to make visiting its site an enjoyable and usable interactive experience,” noted Fry president Rudy Pataro.
