Harris Teeter to Kickoff Charlotte’s 1st-ever Hackathon

Harris Teeter has partnered with Tresata, a big-data startup and ettain group, an IT staffing agency to bring a big-data competition, called a Hackathon to the Queen City.

The Hackathon is a two-week, team-based contest where sponsors pose a business sales problem, provide real-world data to support it and ask contestants to analyze, visualize and present a compelling strategy to address the problem posed. All area tech developers, designers, analysts and others are invited to work together for two weeks in small groups and present their results at a finale May 19. Prizes will be awarded to winners.

This first-ever big-data Hackathon will provide the opportunity for local talent to showcase their skills and tackle an exciting and cutting-edge eBusiness challenge.

“Charlotte’s technology community is often viewed as being in the shadow of the Research Triangle, when in truth, we have a vibrant and talented pool of technology professionals right here,” said Danna Jones, communication specialist for Harris Teeter. “Harris Teeter is proud to sponsor a forum in which technology experts support our eBusiness in the form of creative ideas and solutions.”

Harris Teeter operates grocery stores in eight states, mainly in the southeastern and mid-Atlantic United States, and the District of Columbia.
