Hy-Vee Restructuring Several Depts.

Hy-Vee Inc.is restructuring several corporate departments to grow three key areas -- IT, HealthMarkets and restaurant development -- and will add almost 70 new positions to its corporate staff.

More than 50 new full-time positions will be focused on IT and work at Hy-Vee's new facility in Grimes, Iowa. The facility will serve as a “creativity center” where those in IT and marketing will work together to develop future apps, programs and online content to provide customers with more convenience and better customer service, while showcasing the West Des Moines, Iowa-based company's culinary expertise.

The remaining 20 new roles will work out of the West Des Moines office and oversee future development and expansion of Hy-Vee's Market Grille restaurants and HealthMarkets, the latter of which provide organic, natural, gluten-free and allergy-friendly foods. Currently, there are more than 400 full-time retail positions available at the 244 Hy-Vee stores across the supermarket's eight-state footprint.

As a result of the restructuring, approximately 60 corporate positions were affected. At least 50 of those associates were offered job reassignments within the company, including opportunities at the store level or in the new positions being created.
