Jewel-Osco Encourages Pet Adoption

Select Jewel-Osco supermarkets are partnering with Iams Home 4 the Holidays to host in-store events to help raise awareness of pet adoption.

On Nov. 2 and 3, neighborhood shelters will introduce shoppers to deserving puppies, kittens, dogs and cats that are ready to find loving homes.

Jewel-Osco is committed to looking for ways to enrich the lives of our shoppers and their pets,” said Lanny Hoffmeyer, category director for paper and pet at Supervalu Inc., which owns the Chicago-area banner. “We are proud to once again partner with Home 4 the Holidays and give our customers an opportunity to connect with animals that can enhance their lives for years.”

Representatives at four Chicago-area stores will be on hand to show pictures of pets, answer questions and provide further information for shoppers who are considering adoption.

“Most of us shop locally, so we know many of the people that shop at the Jewel in our neighborhood,” said Jeanne DiCello of Libertyville’s Placing Paws of Illinois. “Partnering with our local grocery store is a good way to help bring recognition to our organization.”

Anyone who adopts a dog, cat, puppy or kitten through Jan. 2 can register for Iams Lifelong Rewards via a mobile sign-up. When a new pet parent enrolls, he or she can select a participating pet adoption center or animal rescue and Iams will donate 5 pounds of pet food to that facility.
