John Morrell Food Group Contributes to Tornado Cleanup in Mass.

John Morrell Food Group, a wholly owned and independently managed subsidiary of Smithfield Foods based in Cincinnati, has been providing food, manpower and executive leadership to crews helping the victims and cleaning up the damage from as many as three tornados that hit Springfield, Mass. on June 1.

Fifteen JFMG employees' homes and properties were damaged by the storms. JFMG manufactures Carando brand sausages at its Massachusetts plant. The plant narrowly missed being hit by one storm, but has remained in full production.

"Our heart goes out to all the people suffering from these storms and the storms that have ravaged Alabama, Mississippi, Missouri and other states this spring," said Tad A. Brubaker, VP, operations, Armour Eckrich Meats for JMFG.

"We're rallying to help meet the needs of our friends and neighbors here in western Massachusetts, and want to encourage others to help community leaders get this town and its people back on their feet again," he noted.

The John Morrell Food Group offers several national and regional brands, including Armour, Eckrich, John Morrell, Curly's, Patrick Cudahy, Carando, Healthy Ones, Margherita, and LunchMakers. Its products range from lunchmeat and franks to smoked sausage, bacon and pepperoni.
