Key Food, Instacart Expand Partnership

Instacart has expanded its partnership with Key Food Stores Co-Operative Inc. to include The Food Emporium for Manhattan residents. Now customers of the banner throughout Manhattan can order groceries and have them delivered to their doorsteps by Instacart in as little as an hour.

Instacart and Key Food first joined forces in April 2015, offering customers in the New York metro area both curbside pickup and delivery. “The Key Food community has grown tremendously on Instacart,” said Andrew Nodes, head of retail accounts at San Francisco-based Instacart. “In the city that never sleeps, customers expect groceries to be delivered to their door wherever and whenever they want them, and we're proud to fulfill that expectation.”

“We promise to make our customers’ grocery shopping experiences welcoming, enjoyable, and productive,” noted Michele Gissi, interactive marketing and PR manager (and 2016 Top Woman in Grocery) at Staten Island, N.Y.-based Key Food. “We are also always looking for ways to increase convenience and improve our customers’ lives.” Key Food acquired the banner name and related intellectual assets of The Food Emporium from the bankrupt A&P in late 2015.

Initial Food Emporium delivery will be to ZIP codes throughout Manhattan: 10017, 10019, 10020, 10021, 10022, 10023, 10024, 10025, 10026, 10027, 10028, 10029, 10031, 10035, 10036, 10065, 10069, 10075, 10106, 10128, 10154, 10155, 10162, 10169, 10171, 10001, 10003, 10010, 10011, 10014, 10016 and 10018.

In addition to Key Food, the stores operate under the Food Universe, Key Food Marketplace, Key Fresh & Natural, Food Dynasty, The Food Emporium, Urban Market, SuperFresh, and various other banners in all five New York City boroughs, Long Island, upstate New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania.
