Kroger Clinches Union Contract in Houston

Associates the Kroger Co. at 107 of the grocer’s supermarkets in Texas have ratified agreements with United Food and Commercial Workers Local 455.

The agreements cover more than 13,000 Kroger associates in the Houston Meat and Houston Clerks bargaining units. “Kroger and UFCW worked together to reach agreements that provide our associates one of the best total compensation packages in our industry in Texas,” said Bill Breetz, president of Kroger’s Southwest Division. “The agreements include good wages, high-quality affordable health care and pension benefits for our associates. We thank our associates for the work they do each day to serve Kroger customers.”

Cincinnati-based Kroger employs more than 334,000 associates at 2,468 supermarkets and multidepartment stores in 31 states under two dozen local banner names including Kroger, City Market, Dillons, Jay C, Food 4 Less, Fred Meyer, Fry’s, King Soopers, QFC, Ralphs and Smith’s.
