Shipt Expands Operations in Atlanta, Winston-Salem

Publix and Kroger shoppers in the Atlanta area, as well as Lowes patrons in and around Winston-Salem, N.C., are now able to get their groceries delivered via third-party delivery service Shipt.

The Birmingham, Ala.-based service is delivering groceries from the Winston-Salem-, Cincinnati- and Lakeland, Fla.-based grocers by expanding existing operations in and around Atlanta and Winston-Salem. Through the Shipt app, members can shop the full selection of groceries and household goods offered at the grocers’ local stores, note any preferences, choose a one-hour delivery window and pay for their order. Shipt connects members with a community of shoppers who handpick their items and deliver them as soon as one hour after the order is placed, or up to 24 hours in advance.

"After seeing strong demand and positive feedback from our launch in Atlanta, we are expanding our services in order to bring Shipt members more options from highly requested retailers," said Bill Smith, founder and CEO of Shipt. "Enlarging our coverage area and giving our customers additional ways to shop their favorite stores is a part of our mission to further simplify lives in the Atlanta area."

Added Klaus Werner, ecommerce head and CIO of Lowes: "Partnering with Shipt provides an additional online shopping option to our loyal Lowes Foods guests. By working with Shipt to deliver groceries, we are giving our guests access to the Shipt marketplace and grocery delivery service. As a family-owned local grocery retailer since 1954, we are very excited to continue to offer new and innovative shopping options to our guests in the Winston-Salem area."

Shipt memberships are available for an annual fee of $99, and members have access to free delivery on all orders over $35.
