Kroger Unveils 'Taste of Mexico' Sampling Event
In an effort to accommodate consumers' evolving tastes, Kroger Co. has unveiled a new event, "Savor World Flavor: Taste of Mexico," set to take place throughout June, beginning this week.
The first-of-its-kind event will host dozens of new product selections, cooking demonstrations and food sampling. Kroger will also offer an online hub where consumers can view recipes, watch videos, find a schedule of in-store events and register to win prizes.
"Savor World Flavor is about re-igniting our customers' passion for food through the authentic tastes and cuisines of world cultures," said Michael Donnelly, Kroger's VP of merchandising. "Carefully selected foods and recipes will create a unique fiesta for the senses in our stores during Taste of Mexico – and provide exciting and easy new options to help solve the daily question, 'what's for dinner?'"
Among the bevvy of sampling options are freshly-made guacamole; tilapia, shrimp ceviche, chorizo and marinated cuts of beef, pork and chicken; "fuego" cheeses; as well as authentic Mexican dishes that consumers can recreate at home, like Tinga de Pollo, Torta de Milanesa and Pescado a la Talla.
In addition to the sampling options, customers will find authentic Mexican products in the stores' grocery aisles, such as Paletas (ice pops made from fruit); Crema Mexicana (buttery-rich table cream for entree toppings); Mexican Coke (sweetened with cane sugar); Cajeta Coronado (caramel topping made from goat's milk); and Arcoiris Cookies (marshmallow and vanilla stacked cookies).
