Marsh Cuts Ribbon on Banner-change Stores

Indianapolis-based Marsh Supermarkets Inc. has rechristened two of its stores in Muncie, Ind., under its “Marsh, The Marketplace” banner following a redesign and remodel project of nearly $4 million.

Bill Holsworth, Marsh’s COO, and Bill Erickson, VP of retail operations, led Thursday’s grand opening ceremonies that included a ribbon-cutting, refreshments and $5 Marsh gift cards for the first 200 customers at each location.

Joseph Kelley, Marsh’s new chairman, CEO and president, said the former Marsh Hometown Market stores have undergone significant physical improvements including new fixtures, improved lighting and much more.

“Along with these visible physical upgrades, we continue our commitment to the level of customer service Marsh customers have come to expect and have enhanced many of our product offerings,” Kelley said. “We look forwarding to serving the Muncie and surrounding area residents for many more years with our newly remodeled stores.”

The Marketplace stores will be postured to provide shoppers with the highest standards of quality perishables, meal solutions, a wide variety of organic and natural foods and best-in-class service departments for meat, seafood, deli and bakery. Further, Marsh’s traditional focus on customer service will be accentuated in the Marketplace stores, providing additional baggers and carryout services.

Over the past four years, Marsh has been committed to renovating existing stores to better serve the communities in which we live and work. As evidence, to date more than 80 percent of the Marsh store base has been updated or remodeled.

Marsh operates 75 Marsh Supermarkets, 19 MainStreet Markets and 3 O’Malia’s Food Markets in Indiana and Ohio, with 40 Indiana pharmacy locations.
