Marsh Debuts ‘Good ’Til’ Pricing

As food prices in Indiana and across the nation rise, Marsh Supermarkets Inc. is lowering prices on thousands of the most popular items in its stores, beginning this month, as part of new pricing programs that guarantee everyday low prices for an extended period of time.

Known as Good ‘Til, these new pricing programs assure Marsh shoppers that many of their favorite grocery items won’t increase in price for at least three months, even if industry retail prices increase, as they have for four straight quarters, according to the most recent market basket survey by the Indiana Farm Bureau.

“In these inflationary times, rising food prices can contribute to the economic pressures faced by many families in our communities,” said Joe Kelley, Marsh chairman, CEO and president. “Our new Good ‘Til programs guarantee everyday low prices on thousands of items throughout our stores and offer families the opportunity to make their grocery budgets go farther.”

Other supermarkets have made pricing programs such as Good ‘Til available to shoppers in the northeastern United States for some time. Marsh is the first retail grocery chain to make such programs available to consumers in Indiana and Ohio.

The new pricing programs will be offered four times per year with each program extending for about three months in order to accommodate the seasonal shopping preferences of Marsh shoppers. For example, the lower prices for the current period are “Good ’Til” the end of 2011.

During each seasonal period, Marsh will lower its prices on thousands of grocery items throughout its stores, and these lower retail prices will remain in effect for the entire seasonal period, regardless of any industry price increases.

All Marsh departments – including meat, produce, deli, bakery, seafood, dairy, frozen foods, and health and beauty care – will offer items as part of the new pricing programs.

To announce each season’s Good ’Til program, Marsh will provide highly visible in-store signage, run ads and make information available on its website.

Indianapolis-based Marsh Supermarkets operates 70 Marsh stores, including three O’Malia’s Supermarkets and 27 MainStreet Markets in Indiana and Ohio, with 40 Indiana pharmacy locations.
