Mrs. Green’s Natural Market Offers Associates English Classes

Mrs. Green’s Natural Market is providing English as a Second Language (ESL) courses for Westchester County, N.Y., associates as part of a larger investment in the company's workforce.

With a curriculum personally designed and led by a fellow employee, the ESL classes began at six stores in Westchester after several associate requests. The classes aim to give attendees the confidence to speak with co-workers and customers in English.

"Our associates are our most important asset," noted Pat Brown, the recently appointed CEO of Irvington, N.Y.-based Natural Markets Food Group (NMFG), Mrs. Green’s parent company. "These language classes continue our efforts to invest in our own people and make sure they have the resources they need -- from health benefits and good wages to quality training – to feel at home."

"Investing in people and their skills is one of the best investments that a business can make -- and Mrs. Green’s is incredibly smart to work with its associates on valuable initiatives such as these," added John Ravitz, EVP and COO of The Business Council of Westchester. "We encourage all of our members to identify opportunities to expand skill sets and make sure they are delivering a premium product to Westchester customers."

In addition to Mrs. Green's, NMFG operates Planet Organic Markets across Canada, and Richtree Natural Markets Restaurants in Toronto. NMFG is currently expanding its U.S. presence, which began in the New York metro area, and now includes the Mid-Atlantic region and Chicago.
