Nash Finch's Elliott Joins NGA Board

Kevin Elliott, executive vice president, president and COO of wholesale/retail at Nash Finch Co., has been appointed to the board of directors of the National Grocers Association (NGA), the national trade association representing retail and wholesale grocers that comprise the independent sector of the food distribution industry.

“We are excited to have Kevin Elliott join the NGA board of directors,” said Peter J. Larkin, NGA president and CEO. “It takes innovative leaders with diverse experience like Kevin’s to further the association’s mission and accomplish its goals. We are confident Kevin will play a key role on the NGA board in its efforts to promote diversity in the marketplace and increased consumer choices through a vibrant independent sector."

Elliott joined Nash Finch in November, having previously served as senior VP of merchandising, logistics and marketing at Seven Eleven Inc. “We are delighted that the NGA board and membership have recognized Kevin’s leadership skills and business acumen by appointing him to the NGA board of directors,” said Alec Covington, Nash Finch president and CEO. “Kevin’s passion for helping independent grocers succeed and thrive in this challenging economy will serve the NGA Board and its members well."

Elliott remarked: “I am honored to join the board of directors of NGA, an organization focused on independents, the true entrepreneurs of our business. In my short time with Nash Finch, I have seen first-hand the incredible support available to independent grocers from wholesalers whose primary focus is on helping independent customers grow. I welcome the opportunity to bring that perspective to the NGA board," he said.

Minneapolis-based Nash Finch serves independent retailers and military commissaries in 36 states, the District of Columbia, Europe, Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Azores, Egypt and Bahrain. The company also owns and operates a base of retail stores under the Econofoods, Family Thrift Center, Avanza, Family Fresh Market, No Frills, Bag ‘N Save and Sun Mart trade names.
