Price Chopper 'Making Strides Against Breast Cancer’

Price Chopper Supermarkets’ month-long pinup campaign for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, a nationwide event enabling people to raise funds and awareness to fight breast cancer, has amassed $40,674. The amount, raised by customers and associates, will help fight the disease through research, information, services and better access to mammograms.

“Making Strides is an incredible and inspiring opportunity to unite as a community to honor breast cancer survivors, raise awareness and raise money to help the American Cancer Society,” noted Mona Golub, VP of public relations and consumer services at the Schenectady, N.Y.-based grocer. “Price Chopper is a leader in bringing attentions to this issue through our fundraising and campaign efforts.”

An annual walk hosted by the American Cancer Society since 1993, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer currently involves more than 8 million participants in 270 communities across the country, raising $460 million for the cause.

The Golub Corp. owns and operates 131 Price Chopper grocery stores in New York, Vermont, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Golub’s 22,000 teammates collectively own more than 50 percent of the company’s privately held stock, making it one of the nation’s largest privately held corporations that’s predominantly employee-owned.
