Price Chopper Names Director of Bakery Merch

Price Chopper Supermarkets/Golub Corp. has hired Jay Mandrillo as its director of bakery merchandising, reporting directly to Keith Frosceno, the grocer’s group VP, fresh foods merchandising.

In his new role, Mandrillo (left) will oversee bakery procurement, merchandising, sales and developing competitive programs for the Schenectady, N.Y.-based chain, which owns operates 129 stores in New York, Vermont, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Mandrillo comes to Price Chopper from Keasbey, N.J.-based Wakefern Food Corp./ShopRite, where he worked in the bakery and produce areas. He has also worked previously for Pathmark, Kings Super Markets and Stop & Shop.

Mandrillo and his family plan to relocate to New York state’s Capital District from their current home in North Brunswick, N.J.

The family-owned Golub Corp. employs more than 23,000 associates, who collectively own 52 percent of the company’s privately held stock.
