Price Chopper Seeks to Overhaul Largest Store

The Golub Corp. is seeking permission to renovate its largest store, located in the upstate New York town of Clifton Park, following the denial of its plans to build a new Price Chopper supermarket in the area, according to a written report.

The 77,000-square-foot store would receive an updated facade, a drive-through pharmacy, in-store Starbucks and QuickCare Clinic locations, and additional parking, among other features.

Evolving Design Concepts

“The renovation of our Clifton Shopper’s World supermarket will continue to evolve our store design concepts forward, allowing us to incorporate the best of what we’ve done with innovative offers that address newly emerging trends and our customers’ changing needs,” Mona Golub, VP of public relations and marketing services at the Schenectady, N.Y.-based grocery chain, told the Albany, N.Y., Business Review.

The application to overhaul the store was presented this week to the town planning board and will be reviewed again at a meeting scheduled to take place in the near future. Earlier this month, the board voted against recommending a zoning change to allow the construction of a ground-up Price Chopper in another part of town, to replace an older, smaller store across the street.
