Price Chopper/Market 32 Names Winning ‘Tools for Schools’ Recipes

The winners of Price Chopper/Market 32’s 19th annual Tools for Schools Family Meal Recipe Contest are Dylan’s Spinach Chicken Parmesan, submitted by Newark Street Elementary School, in Newark, Vt., which was chosen as the grand-prize winner by a panel of chefs at the grocer's fresh food-focused Market Bistro concept, and Roasted Shrimp and Vegetables, submitted by Bethlehem Central Middle School, in Delmar, N.Y., which was named the fan favorite.

“The Family Meal Recipe Contest is an opportunity to show off creativity and originality in the kitchen with recipes that are delicious and easy to prepare,” said Mona Golub, VP of public relations and consumer services for Schenectady, N.Y.-based Price Chopper/Market 32. “In return, schools receive a significant bonus for their Tools for Schools points balance. For nearly 20 years, Tools for Schools has brought communities together to raise more than $13 million in school equipment for local schools throughout the Northeast.”

Newark Street Elementary School will garner 1 million bonus points toward educational equipment (a $10,000 value) for its recipe, created by student chef Dylan Gonyer, while Bethlehem Central Middle School will earn 250,000 bonus points.

Through March 25, shoppers can help area schools by using the Price Chopper/Market 32 AdvantEdge Card. Points earned from the program allow elementary, middle, and high schools to purchase new equipment and educational materials. Schools can also win prizes based on most points earned and the greatest value-to-student ratio. Bonus points, along with other incentives, help schools boost their overall total. As an added incentive, the top 50 schools with the most points earned and the top 50 schools with the highest points-per-student ratio in this year’s program will each receive a $250 Price Chopper gift card. The winners will be revealed in April.

To earn points for a designated school, shoppers can visit the Guest Services desk in any Price Chopper/Market 32 store or enroll an AdvantEdge Card online. One point will be given for each dollar spent, while the purchase of select Price Chopper and brand items will award double points.

To date, Tools for Schools has raised more than $13 million for schools in Price Chopper/Market 32’s six-state footprint. This year, participating schools across the grocer’s Northeast market area will earn a share of more than $500,000 in equipment and material, thanks to the program.
