Publix Debuts New Blog to Take Customers 'Beyond the Aisles'

Publix Super Markets has expanded its social media presence with the soft launch of its first-ever blog – The Publix Checkout – to elevate its engagment with customers.

Posts on Publix's new blog, which debuted this month, will deal with such subjects as recipes, community initiatives, sustainability tips, holiday entertaining, and health and wellness. Visitors are welcome to comment on posts or share them on social media sites.

“As a retailer passionately committed to serving our customers, our social media presence has always been about engaging with our customers where they are and extending our in-store service online,” said Maria Brous, media and community relations director at Lakeland, Fla.-based Publix. “Having a blog provides us a fresh and inspiring way to connect socially with customers, taking them beyond the aisles and showing them we’re more than just a grocery store.”

Launching its social media presence in 2011 on Facebook, Publix is now also active on Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest.

Privately owned and operated by its 184,000 employees, Publix has 1,122 stores in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina and North Carolina.
