Publix to Open 3rd N.C. Store

Publix Super Markets Inc. has signed a lease for a third store in the greater Charlotte, N.C., area. The store will be located at the intersection of Matthews Mint Hill Road and Lawyers Road in Charlotte.

The shopping center, Mint Hill Commons, will feature a 49,000-square-foot Publix supermarket, a drive-through pharmacy, along with other shops and restaurants. Mint Hill Commons is tentatively slated to make its debut in late 2014.

“The excitement of our associates continues to grow as we look forward to sharing the Publix spirit with our new North Carolina family,” said Maria Brous, media and community relations director at Lakeland, Fla.-based Publix. “As company owners, our associates are passionately focused on delivering the highest level of service and award-winning private label products in all of our stores.”

Last year, Publix revealed its first two North Carolina locations: a store in Ballantyne that will open in early 2014, and one in greater Charlotte scheduled to open late that year.

According to the company, it “continues to aggressively look for additional locations throughout the state of North Carolina as it looks to meet and exceed the expectations of the communities it will serve.”

Privately owned and operated by its 160,000 employees, Publix has 1,072 stores in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee.
