Publix Raises $2.5M for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals

Publix Super Markets’ annual Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in-store fundraiser campaign has raised a record-breaking $2,507,029 -- a 25 percent increase over last year’s totals.

Funds generated from the campaign, which ran from May 26 through June 16, will directly benefit 19 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in five southeastern states: Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee.

2012 was the 21st year that Publix shoppers and associates have united to help local CMN Hospitals through the purchase by purchasing $1, $3 and $5 Miracle Balloons at checkout. Their donations help to fund a range of live-saving treatments, buy critical medical equipment, and provide needed charitable care, research and education. To date, the campaign has raised more than $23 million dollars for the cause.

“The dedication, commitment and sheer generosity of Publix customers and associates is not to be underestimated! The proof is in this year’s record fundraising totals, and the results will be evident in hospital rooms and hallways throughout the Southeast,” noted John Lauck, president and CEO of Salt Lake City-based Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, which raises funds for 170 top and nonprofit children’s hospitals across the United States and Canada.

Privately owned and operated by its 151,500 employees, Lakeland, Fla.-based Publix has 1,057 stores in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee.
