Raley’s Selects HarvestMark for Quality Mgmt. Solution

Raley’s Family of Fine Stores has selected YottaMark Inc.’s HarvestMark fresh food traceability and insights platform for its next generation distribution center (DC) quality solution, which will enable the West Sacramento, Calif.-based regional grocer to monitor products at the point of receiving while optimizing its supply chain to deliver superior-quality produce to shoppers.

“Raley’s has long had a strong reputation for providing our customers with the freshest, highest-quality produce,” said Greg Corrigan, Raley’s senior director of produce and floral. “HarvestMark enables us to enhance that reputation by providing us with the ability to closely manage quality by supplier, commodity, and season to ensure that shoppers will have access throughout the year to a bountiful supply of quality produce at each of our stores.”

“Advanced quality practices are beginning to be adopted in retail grocery,” said Elliott Grant, founder and CTO of the Redwood City, Calif.-based YottaMark. “HarvestMark DC Insights enables retailers to make smarter choices about their sourcing and receiving process, reducing shrink and markdowns, and optimizing freshness and quality, which ultimately results in improved shopper loyalty.”

The application resides on HarvestMark’s traceability platform, explained Grant, noting it’s “a great example of how improved transparency creates value.”

Grant continues: “HarvestMark DC Insights enables retailers to consistently apply metrics, digitally record results at the points of receiving, and build stronger partnerships with suppliers. Suppliers can be benchmarked and alerted when unexpected defects occur and how to correct them, increasing overall quality.”

Related insights can further assist buyers in anticipating seasonal disruptions in supply and improve forecasts.

HarvestMark DC Insights provides an efficient, effective solution to automate receiving practices, standardize across locations, improve record-keeping and supplier benchmarking and provide better feedback to suppliers. “By automating receiving, standardizing quality ratings, and eliminating manual data entry and manipulation, HarvestMark DC Insights creates intuitive dashboards that give buyers the ability to make fact-based decisions and store operations visibility to quality at receiving,” said Grant.

The privately-owned Raley’s operates 128 stores in Northern California and Nevada under four banners: Raley’s, Bel Air, Nob Hill Foods and Food Source.
