Ralphs, Food 4 Less ‘Bring Hope to the Table’

This holiday season, The Kroger Co. subsidiaries Ralphs Grocery Co. and Food 4 Less are inviting customers to “Bring Hope to The Table” by supporting local food banks and families in need.

Beginning Nov. 10, customers and Ralphs associates will be able to support local food banks by donating their spare change in collection canisters located at checkstands. Customers also will be able to purchase a $1, $3 or $5 "Bringing Hope to the Table" scan card to make a monetary donation to end hunger. All donations will be given to food banks and hunger relief organizations in communities across Southern California served by Ralphs stores.

"Ralphs is committed to helping in the fight against hunger in the communities we serve," said Donna Giordano, president of Ralphs Supermarkets. "We hope these efforts will help provide some relief from food insecurity."

Also beginning Nov. 10, Food 4 Less and Foods Co customers and associates can support food banks in their community through the supermarket chain's nonprofit arm, The Food 4 Less/Foods Co Fund, by donating their spare change at checkstands in Food 4 Less stores in Southern California, southern Nevada and the greater Chicago area, and at Foods Co supermarkets in Central and Northern California.

"Assisting people who need help during the holidays and throughout the year is a Food 4 Less priority," said Bryan Kaltenbach, president of Food 4 Less/Foods Co. "This checkstand fundraising campaign provides an opportunity for our customers and associates to drive funds to local food banks to help hungry families this holiday season."

Food banks benefiting from this year's holiday "Bringing Hope to the Table" fundraising campaign include Feeding America San Diego, FIND Food Bank (Indio), Food Bank of Santa Barbara County, Food Share (Oxnard), Los Angeles Regional Foodbank, Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County, Second Harvest Food Bank Serving Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, Central Valley Food Bank (Fresno), Greater Chicago Food Depository, San Francisco Foodbank and Three Square Food Bank (Las Vegas).

Ralphs has donated more than 3.2 million pounds of perishable foods and more than $412,000, and Food 4 Less has donated more than 1 million pounds of perishable foods and more than $267,000 to food banks this year.
