Relay’s Race to Expand

Online grocer Relay Foods is expanding its service to Williamsburg, Va., as of May 3. Customers in search of a convenient, sustainable way to shop for local foods and grocery staples, including Whole Foods Market items, will be able to order products online and pick them up in Williamsburg’s New Town area on Tuesdays at Legacy Hall or Fridays at Civic Green.

“Relay Foods partners with local farmers and producers as well as grocery stores like Whole Foods Market and other shops to bring customers the best artisan-crafted food and grocery staples available,” explained Zach Buckner, founder and CEO of the Charlottesville, Va.-based company. “We handle the logistics so customers have more time to enjoy with family and friends.”

To use the service, customers visit the company’s online market to place an order that’s handpicked by the Relay Foods team. As long as orders are in before midnight on the day before a scheduled delivery, they will be ready for pick up in less than 24 hours.

Relay Foods is offering specials exclusively for area customers each week in May. From May 3 to May 10, customers will receive a free Bounty Basket of produce (organic or conventional) with each $50 purchase. During the second week (May 13-17), customers will get two free Relay Pizzas with a purchase of $75 or more. In week three (May 20-24), Relay Foods will give away a Tasting Box with each $75 purchase, and in the final week (May 27-31), customers who make a $50 or more purchase will receive a free Cava Mezze Party Pack.

Relay Foods also operates in Richmond, Va., and the metro Baltimore and Washington, D.C., areas.
